Lordy, the heat finally let up today.
This summer has been a total dead zone, little of it worth sharing, except that when I get out of this limbo I’ll be very grateful indeed - hence the lack of postings. I’ve totally become a zombie.
It’s been too hot to really enjoy anything anyways. I’m serious – this summer has been absolutely oppressive. And DC has run its course for me.
I’ve taken ever so slight comfort with cable TV lately but I’ve figured out that even "expanded" digital plays the same things over and over.
You know I was reminded again yesterday how much I always thought John Cameron Mitchell in Hedwig (which is on eternal repeat on the Sundance/IFC channels) “favors” Rachel Griffiths. Separated at birth?
Speaking of Brenda Chenowith… Six Feet Under pretty much lost me two seasons ago; the nonstop unhappiness of those characters started seriously getting on my nerves (much as my recent malaise is bugging the crap out of me now), and I found the nasty way they all treat each other cynical and more than a bit dreary, and I still can’t figure out that whole David/Red Jacket Guy thing. And I HATE devices like fantasy sequences and when dead characters show up – Ghost Nate was such an assbite! Actually living Nate turned into a real assbite as well....
That said, the last ten minutes of the season finale had me all choked up.
Maybe it’s a rite of passage thing for me, since the show started right after I arrived back in the US/DC and now I’m seeing that to closure. Um, no, it’s just TV. I mean HBO.
My birthdays on Friday – ain’t that a pisser.
Anyways, I’m going to make an effort to start doing some shorter posts about bright happy things. I’m ready for autumn! I wanna take off like Claire.
Baltimore loves you! Although, I'm not sure that's a happy good thing.

hey skunkeye,
Glad the DC weather has eased up. Am walking around the Dupont neighborhood again and looking forward to the farmers market on saturday.
hope your spirits rise with the weather. (or rise as the relative humidity lowers)
